Taiwan’s Banqiao Senior High School will soon be adopting a gender-neutral uniform policy where both boys and girls will be allowed to wear skirts.

The decision to eliminate gender-specific uniforms was made by the school after male students and teachers held a week-long campaign in May to diminish traditional gender roles and stereotypes by wearing skirts to class.

Banqiao Senior High School stated that this policy change will "boost the students' autonomy in choosing their uniforms while respecting their rights.” The new dress code will take effect in the new academic year, from August 30, 2019, and the school will be removing any mention of gender from the policy.
